A drive didn’t record.

In iOS Settings, set Location for Kaido to Always and turn on Motion & Fitness. Kaido can’t record after you swipe it away in the app switcher, so leave it running in the background.

Low Power Mode can delay the start of short drives.

Does Kaido drain my battery?

Kaido uses motion to wake up only when you start driving, then records GPS until you park. Most of the battery use happens during drives. If it ever uses more than a few percent a day, Settings will say so under Recording.

I was only a passenger.

Open the drive in Journal and choose Passenger under Which car?. Passenger rides don’t count toward a car’s miles. If it wasn’t you at all, tap Not me: the drive is hidden, then deleted after five seconds unless you tap Undo.

One stop split my drive in two.

A drive that starts within 10 minutes and 500 m of the last one joins it on its own. For a longer outing, tap Make a trip in Journal and pick the drives that belong together.

How do I add a car?

In Garage, tap +. Scan the VIN with the camera or type it, and Kaido looks up the make and model. You can read the odometer with the camera as well.

How does it pick the car?

It uses CarPlay and Bluetooth to tell your cars apart. If it guesses wrong, change the car in Journal under Which car?, and the drive moves to that car’s map.

What is the Atlas?

The Atlas lives in Milestones. It colors in every country, state, province, US county and Japanese prefecture or city your drives have passed through, and gives you a stamp for each.

Explored is stuck at 0%.

Explored compares your drives with your town’s streets from OpenStreetMap, which Kaido downloads after you drive somewhere new. It can take a moment. If it stays at 0%, open Stats and tap Retry.

Can I change how the map looks?

Tap the map button on Home to switch to the next look, or flick it left and right. Your choice is saved.

How do I make a poster?

Open a drive or a record and tap Share. Pick the line color, turn the speed graph, car photo or End on map on or off, then export an image or a 9:16 video.

How do I add friends?

Open Friends and share your invite code. When a friend enters it, you each appear on the other’s weekly boards: new roads, new counties, longest trip and miles.

What do my friends see?

Your username, photo, country, cars and totals. If you turn on Share rides with friends, they also see your latest drive and the one you pin, including the route. Turn it off in Profile. The privacy policy lists every field.

Deleting my Friends profile

Open Profile › Delete my Friends profile. It removes your name, photo, totals, shared rides and invite code. Your drives stay on your iPhone.

Do I need an account?

No. Kaido uses your iCloud to sync, so there’s nothing to sign up for. Your drives and cars come back when you sign in to a new iPhone with the same Apple Account.

How do I delete everything?

Delete drives and cars inside the app. To remove it all, delete the app, then remove Kaido’s data in Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage. Email us to remove a Friends profile you can no longer reach.

How do I join the beta?

Open the TestFlight invite on your iPhone. If Apple asks, install TestFlight from the App Store first, then tap Accept and Install. The beta is free.

Is there a demo?

In beta builds, yes. In Settings, tap Load the demo garage: four years and 50,000 km across the USA, France and Japan. Tap Exit the demo to go back to your own drives.
